This is kind of old news since he already played a game for the Cents, but the team has added KIJHL scoring leader Scott Morisseau (91) to its roster as an affiliate players. Morisseau played in Wednesday’s game in Trail on a line with Dustin Johnson and Colton Sobchak in limited minutes as Cents coach Luke Pierce mixed up the lines a bit later in the game, which Merritt won 4-3 in overtime.
Morisseau seems like a dynamic player, who although small, can put up big time numbers at the junior B level. It remains to be seen what his plans are for next season and which teams, WHL or BCHL, would be interested in signing him. Time will tell if he’s in the Cents future plans or them in his plans.
The Cents have also added forward Chad Brears (91) of the KIJHL’s Princeton Posse as an affiliate player. The Cold Lake, Alberta product is sixth in Posse scoring with 11 goals and 13 assists in 31 games. He’s had five multi-point games this season, but is currently mired in a five game pointless streak. No word if and when he’ll make his BCHL debut with the Cents.
The Cents have also added defenceman Brett Laird (91) from the KIJHL’s Chase Chiefs as an affiliate player. The West Kelowna blueliner is in his third season with the Chiefs and has 29 points in 79 career KIJHL games. He also played last season in the KIJHL Top Prospects Game. Laird was with Quesnel during training camp earlier this season. His situation is very similar to Brears’ in that it remains to be seen when he’ll make his Centennials debut.
