Elva Reid Service, Monday Moves:

A memorial service for longtime Cents fan Elva Reid is this Wednesday, August 4 at 2 p.m. at the Legion Hall in Merritt. If you’re interested in coming to the service and aren’t sure where the Legion is, check out this link. Based on Elva’s impact on the community, I would expect an overflow crowd to attend the service.

Meanwhile, plans are being developed by the Centennials to honour Elva’s memory. In addition to a moment of silence before the home opener on September 17th, discussions are underway to determine how else the team will pay tribute. Word is that there may be a sticker on the player’s helmets or patch on their jerseys. Cents coach and GM Luke Pierce has already dedicated the 2010-11 season to the memory of Elva Reid.
