Alberni Valley-Brooks-Calgary Trade:

The future considerations from another January 10th trade have been finalized and in this case, it was the catalyst to another deal and the entire process ends up being a three-way transaction.
Back at the trade deadline, Alberni Valley moved F Dylan Nowakowski (91) to the AJHL’s Brooks Bandits for D Kirsten Odendaal (93) and future considerations. Odendaal was in turn flipped to the Olds Grizzlys for F Hunter Stewart (93).
Earlier this summer, Brooks and Alberni agreed that the futures would be F RJ Reed (92). Reed chose not to report to the Bulldogs and as a result, Alberni Valley Coach & GM Kevin Willison had an asset that he could use in another trade.
This weekend, Willison traded Reed to the AJHL’s Calgary Mustangs for G Jay Deo (92) to complete the entire trade. So ultimately the deal looks like this:

To Alberni Valley Bulldogs:
G Jay Deo (92) Kirsten Odendaal (93)
To Calgary Mustangs:
F RJ Reed (92) Brooks Bandits:

F Dylan Nowakowski (91) Here’s the release from the Bulldogs website:

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs would like to announce that earlier this off-season, the team named RJ Reed as the player that completed the “future considerations” part of the Dylan Nowakowski trade with the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL.

Today, the Alberni Valley Bulldogs announce the rights to RJ Reed have been traded to the Calgary Mustangs of the AJHL for 1992-born goalie Jay Deo.

Deo, originally from Langley, BC, completed his second full season with the Mustangs. In the 2011/12 season, Deo appeared in 55 games posting a 28-17-7 record with a GAA of 3.02 and a .910 save percentage. Deo added 2 shutouts. In Deo’s rookie campaign the season before, he also posted an impressive record of 17-11-1 with a GAA of 2.76 and a .920 save percentage.
