The (short-lived) mystery of what happened to defenseman Braeden Jones (94) is solved as the Trail Smoke Eaters announced today that they’ve traded him to the MJHL’s Portage Terriers for future considerations.
Jones was traded to make room for defenseman Cody Bardock, who the Smokies picked up from Sherwood Park on Thursday.

Here’s Trail’s release on the deal:
The Trail Smoke Eaters have completed a trade with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Portage Terriers, sending 19 year-old defenseman Braeden Jones east for future considerations.
Jones, from Edmonton, Alberta, scored 3 goals and 9 points in 44 appearances with the Smoke Eaters during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, adding 78 minutes in penalties. The 6’2” blueliner was recruited in the spring of 2012 from the Knights of Columbus midget AAA program.
Jones will join former Smoke Eater defenseman Matt Alexander with Portage. The Terriers will host the 2015 RBC Cup.
The Smoke Eaters would like to thank Braeden for his contributions on and off the ice in our community, and wish him the very best with the Terriers.
