The Chilliwack Chiefs made their second move in as many days today, sending leading scorer Austin Plevy to the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Brooks Bandits for 18-year-old Mason Boh and future considerations.
The deal moves Plevy outside of BC for the first time in his career and signifies that the Chiefs may have an eye on next season as Chilliwack sits 16 points back of the final playoff spot in the Mainland Division with just 17 games left to play. 17-year-old defenceman Carter Cochrane is now the Chiefs leading scorer with 34 points in 40 games.
The addition of Boh gives the Chiefs seven import players, meaning if they’d like to add one ahead of Friday’s trade deadline, another one would need to be subtracted. Chilliwack is still only at 21 players overall, so Harvey Smyl could add one other player (a non-import) without subtracting.
To Chilliwack Chiefs:
The Chilliwack Chiefs have moved forward Austin Plevy to the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in exchange for 18 year old forward Mason Boh and future considerations. The 5’10, 170lb Boh is from Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
The entire Chiefs organization would like to thank Austin for his commitment to Chiefs Hockey on and off of the ice in Chilliwack and wish him the best of luck in his future hockey endeavors.
The Chiefs next home game is Saturday, January 11 versus the Langley Rivermen at 7pm at Prospera Centre.
