For the third straight season, the BCHL Showcase event, which kicks off the regular season is scheduled for the rink pictured above, Prospera Centre in Chilliwack.
The league announced the decision in one line as part of a release detailing the outcomes of this season’s Semi-Annual General Meeting with the governors and team personnel.
The league also confirmed it will begin the 2014-15 season by holding its third Showcase event at Prospera Centre in Chilliwack. The dates are tentatively set for Sept. 5 to 7 but will be confirmed in the coming months.
If this year’s Showcase follows the format of the previous two events, it will see each BCHL team play two games – which count in the regular season standings – against teams outside of its division. More than 200 professional and collegiate scouts and coaches have attended each Showcase and I’d expect this year to be no different, if not more.
The Chilliwack Progress newspaper posted this article on its’ website on Thursday:
The BCHL released notes from its semi-annual board of governors meeting late Thursday afternoon, confirming Chilliwack as the site of the third annual BCHL Showcase event.
Prospera Centre has already hosted two of these, bringing every BCHL team to town for a weekend of games.
Next fall’s Showcase is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 5-7, with those dates still to be confirmed.
The BCHL has 16 teams and each one plays two games at the Showcase, which has become a must-see event for collegiate talent evaluators.
As the host, Chilliwack plays one game as the home team and one as the ‘away’ team.
