Trail Smoke Eaters Trade Captain Adam Wheeldon to Camrose:

Trail Smoke Eaters Head Coach and GM Nick Deschenes gave himself some flexibility in terms of 1994-born players on his roster on Monday, as he dealt 20-year-old captain Adam Wheeldon to the Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for future considerations.

Wheeldon is a veteran of 140 BCHL games with the Smokies, the last two with a letter on his jersey, as he was Trail’s captain this past season and an assistant captain in 2012-13.

The Nelson product has played the last five seasons in the Kootenays, starting in 2009-10 with the BC Major Midget League Kootenay Ice before embarking on his junior hockey career with the KIJHL’s Nelson Leafs in 2010-11.

The speedy winger, who wears his heart on his sleeve as a player, should be a solid addition to the Kodiaks line-up.
