PG Set to Make a Major Announcement, Aldworth Commits to Quinnipiac:

The Prince George Spruce Kings have scheduled a media conference for this Friday at 9 am in the lobby of the Prince George Coliseum for what the team calls a “major announcement”. There’s no confirmation, but it’s expected that GM Mike Hawes will unveil the Spruce Kings’ new head coach. Former coach Dave Dupas stepped down from PG last month. Hawes had indicated that the team would prefer to have Dupas’ replacement hired prior to the Spruce Kings Spring Camp, which starts immediately following the media conference.

Vernon Vipers forward Thomas Aldworth committed to Quinnipiac University for this September. The 19-year-old had previously committed to Providence in 2012 while with Cushing Academy. Aldworth had 56 points (37 goals, 19 assists) in 57 games this season with the Vipers as a first year BCHL player. He added eight points (four goals, four assists) in 11 playoff games in Vernon.

Defenseman Kevin Noble (Alberni Valley, Quesnel, Nanaimo, 2005-08) has signed a professional tryout with the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons. The Sparwood, BC, native played 56 games with the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL this season, posting 16 points (one goal, 15 assists).

Forward Mike Ouellette (Merritt, 2000-02) won be back with EHC Linz of the Austrian League. Ouellette, who’s from Kamloops, BC, had 20 points (three goals, 13 assists) in 39 games with Linz in 2014-15. He joined the team on a tryout in November, and earned a contract for the remainder of the season back in January.

Forward Alexander MacMillan (Merritt, 2008-11) has been released from his professional tryout with the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL. In six games with the Admirals, the Calgary native registered no points. He’ll rejoin the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies, where he has two assists in five games this season.

Forward Taylor Stefishen (Langley, 2006-08) signed a professional tryout with the Adirondack Flames of the AHL. The North Vancouver, BC product has 36 points (13 goals, 23 assists) in 48 games with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL this season. Stefishen also had one assist in four games with the AHL’s Texas Stars after signing a PTO with them in December.
