BCHL Schedule Won’t Be Released Before July 1, Eagles Unveil Anniversary Logo, Mendeszoon Commits to Capitals:

The BCHL Annual General Meeting continued on Saturday in Victoria with the league’s officials and team personnel hammering out the 2015-16 regular season schedule. The series of meetings began with team marketers getting together on Thursday followed by Governor’s meetings afterwards. No news to come just yet from either sets of meetings, but I’d expect the league will summarize the findings in a release early in the week.

One thing we do know is the plan is for the 2015-16 schedule to be released no earlier than July 1st. Basically the scheduling process involves the teams bargaining and deciding the dates of their home schedules, with there being compromise and extensive discussion among each of them. After the scheduling meeting, all the details are double-checked for conflicts and other snags. Once those are worked out, the schedule is released.

The Surrey Eagles unveiled their 25th anniversary logo on Friday. The Eagles joined the BCHL in 1991 after the New Westminster Royals crossed the Fraser River into South Surrey. The team has won the Fred Page Cup as BCHL champions four times and the Royal Bank Cup once since becoming the Eagles.

Defenseman Ean Mendeszoon announced via his Twitter account (@Mendaboom_22) that he’s signed with the Cowichan Capitals. The 19-year-old from Methuen, MA played 31 games with the Valley Jr. Warriors of the Eastern Hockey League and finished with three points (one goal, two assists). Mendeszoon added one assist in two playoff games as well. He started 2014-15 with Smith Falls of the Central Canada Hockey League and had one assist in seven games before being released.
