Spruce Kings Bring Logan Aboard, Rumpel and Allen Win ECHL Kelly Cup Title:

Another member of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League champion Campbell River Storm moves up to the BCHL with news that forward Connor Logan has signed with the Prince George Spruce Kings. The 18-year-old played 36 games with the Storm in 2014-15, scoring 60 points (23 goals, 37 assists). He also had four points (two goals, two assists) with the Peninsula Panthers before being traded to Campbell River. Logan got into eight games with Powell River as an affiliate player and had one assist. He skated in two playoff games with the Kings, but didn’t register a point. In 134 career junior B games with the Storm and Panthers, the Victoria, BC product has 160 points (58 goals, 102 assists).

The Allen Americans claimed the 2015 ECHL title on Sunday with a 6-1 win over the South Carolina Stingrays in Game 7 of the Kelly Cup Finals. Goaltender Joel Rumpel (Penticton, 2009-11) is the lone former BCHL player on the Americans roster. Rumpel played seven games for Allen in the ECHL playoffs, finishing with a 2.94 goals-against-average and an .880 save percentage. Forward Tyler Barr (Burnaby AP, Langley AP, Merritt, 2005-09) was loaned to the Americans by the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Louisiana IceGators and played 16 regular season games with Allen, but didn’t get into any playoff games. The Kelly Cup win is the third straight league title for the Americans. They won the President’s Cup in the Central Hockey League in 2013 and 2014 before the league folded prior to the 2014-15 season.
